Bikinis have to be one of my favorite clothing items of all time. They remind me of summertime, the beach, and everything perfect. Since I live in Ohio, and it still hasn’t quite reached bikini weather here, I thought I would scratch my itch by compiling an ultimate look-book of the bikini season ahead.

I did my due diligence and research (aka, shopping) and figured out what is going to be all over your Instagram this summer.

The first thing I've been noticing is ruffles and skirt bikinis. Maybe it’s just the southern preppy influence I have from where I go to school, but all I keep seeing in my new arrivals inbox and all over my Instagram are these gorgeous, flirty, summery, ruffle bikinis. Fancy D Boutique’s most recent drop really stood out to me as a summer season predictor. Even though they only released three bikinis, it definitely made an impact.

Now, I am going to say something that might sound obvious, but I have more to explain, so bear with me. 2016. I think we have all reminisced so hard that we might actually cause a resurgence in trends. Or an adaptation of them. The iconic 2016 Triangl bikinis have already made their way into mainstream fashion, spotted recently on iconic nepo baby Romy Mars. I have to say I’m a fan. I love the colorful and unapologetic boldness. I can’t wait to see an influx of lower-rise coming back in swimwear, along with what we've seen with bottoms. It is also very reminiscent of 2014 Tumblr aesthetics that have made their way into the 2016 trend. I predict that what we’ll get out of it is something in between both, and see a new spin on old trends.

My last of this summer’s bikini big 3 is boy shorts. Maybe I just included it because I love boy shorts, but I really feel like I have been seeing them more and more recently. I've always seen them on Frankie's Bikinis, but as of late, they have been popping up in more and more swim collections. I love the silhouette and the option for more coverage and comfort without having to sacrifice style.

Now, I would be doing everyone a disservice if I only talked about bikinis. You deserve some accessories too.

Whether you are headed to the beach, the pool, or lounging in the sun, stylish coverups and accessories can make or break your look.

I am a big fan of long and baggy denim shorts with a tiny bikini, as pictured below. The boyish loose shorts contrast with the tiny girly bikini, creating a unique and captivating look with very little effort.

This pair from John Galt is my personal favorite. It has the perfect baggy but flattering fit, at an affordable cost.

Another crucial accessory for a bikini look is sunglasses! One of the best ways to spruce up an outfit, and also a great way to protect your eyes from the sun when spending time outside. I am a habitual sunglasses loser- my favorite pair was recently blown off my head on a Jet Ski- so I refuse to pay designer prices for my sunglasses. Luckily, there are so many ADORABLE and affordable options out there. I've compiled a list of my favorites below.

All in all, we have an exciting season ahead of us for beachwear and summer accessories. Of course, I am not the fashion police, and I think everyone should wear whatever they love. But if you're looking for some advice or are, for some reason, interested in my personal opinions, here they are.
